Ruined kirk
Alloway Auld Kirk
The roofless kirk where Tam o' Shanter saw the witches dance, and where Burns's father is buried.

The kirk dates back to the 16th century and was already a ruin when the Burns family lived in Alloway. In Burns's poem Tam o' Shanter, this is where Tam stumbles on the witches' dance.
William Burnes, the poet's father, is buried in the kirkyard, as is Burns's sister Isabella Burns Begg. The kirk and graveyard reopened after restoration in April 2008.
