Town hall and venue
Ayr Town Hall
Thomas Hamilton's town hall, completed in 1830, with a 69-metre spire that still rules the skyline.

Ayr's old tolbooth stood in the middle of the road at the Sandgate until it was pulled down in 1825. Its replacement, designed by Thomas Hamilton, was completed in November 1830 at a cost of 9,965 pounds. The steeple has a belfry modelled on the Tower of the Winds in Athens and rises to 225 feet (69 m).
James Sellars added a block to the south in 1881. After a fire, the interior was remodelled in 1901 with a concert organ. The council hires out the main hall and two Burgh Suites for concerts, events and weddings.
